WILDWOOD – State officials are investigating whether Wildwood Mayor Ernie Troiano, Jr., and Commissioner Peter Byron received medical benefits for which they may not qualify, NJ.com reports.
According to the report, both men claim to be full-time employees; however, Commissioner Anthony Leonetti, also of Wildwood, disputes their status, and said that both men work part-time, which would make them ineligible to be enrolled in the town’s health care program. Troiano and Byron said that they are cooperating with the state Department of Treasury by providing requested documents during the investigation.
The municipal budget and city payroll records show that Troiano and Byron accepted medical benefits at a cost of $58,952 in 2019, the report continued.
