STONE HARBOR – Stone Harbor Council President Karen Lane resigned from council effective Oct. 22. That left the borough with 30 days to appoint a replacement. The council also needed to elect a president from its ranks.
Council member Joselyn Rich was selected as its president for the remainder of the calendar year.
The selection of a president is part of the reorganization process which annually occurs in the first days of January.
On Nov. 20, council announced its appointment to Lane’s vacant seat: Reese Moore, an active member in the Stone Harbor Property Owners Association (SHPOA).
The appointment will be until the 2019 November general election. If Moore wished to hold the seat beyond that date, he would have to stand for election.
Mayor Judith Davies-Dunhour praised Moore’s appointment noting that “he will have a quick learning curve.” She said that Moore’s work with SHPOA means he is familiar with many of the current issues facing the borough.
