Senior Tax Freeze Deadline Approaching

By Joe Hart

COURT HOUSE –– Mayor F. Nathan Doughty wants to remind eligible township residents that haven’t applied to the state Senior Property Tax Freeze program to do so soon.
He said the deadline to file was extended to Oct. 31, and that day is approaching quickly.
To be eligible for the program a senior must be a state resident at least 10 years and in their current home for three years. There is also an income requirement associated with the program.
Doughty told residents at a committee meeting Monday night to contact the township tax office for more information.
