Sea Isle Enhances Decorative Lighting

By Camille Sailer

SEA ISLE CITY – Members of city council approved a resolution to authorize the submission of a grant to the New Jersey Department of Transportation Oct. 11.
The funding would help the city to continue its decorative street lighting and streetscaping project currently underway.
Right now, the work is in the heart of town from 39th and 43rd streets onto Landis Avenue. Per Mayor Leonard Desiderio, “we want to extend the decorations further along Landis between 39th and 43rd. This measure is consistent with our capital plan and there’s up to $1.5 million in grant funding in play.”
Responding to approval of the resolution, Ann Organ, Sea Isle resident, asked about the great expense.
“Isn’t over $ 79,000 expensive for holiday decorations,” Organ asked.
“Many of our decorations are really old, so we need to buy some new ones. The amount in the resolution also includes the price for installation and storage,” Council President Mary Tighe answered.
