Sandy Update from Stone Harbor Mayor Walters

By Press Release

STONE HARBOR – Stone Harbor is officially open for residents to return.
According to Mayor Suzanne Walters, “We are still in a storm clean-up state and it is very important that you stay off the roads so that our Public Works and OEM can do their jobs.
“There is always confusion in these situations, but I want you to know that my office followed the directives coming out of the Governor’s Office and the county Office of Emergency Management. Unfortunately, some ignored those directives, which led to confusion as to when the borough would re-open. As requested by the governor, we were coordinating with our neighboring communities so that one town would not open and cause a flood of people into bordering towns that were not ready to open in keeping with the directive of OEM.
“Please do not use the causeway between North Wildwood and Stone Harbor.
“Please remain inside and off the streets and beach as much as possible so that our clean-up efforts may continue.
“I want to thank you all for your understanding and patience during this challenging time.”
