Safer Crossing Sought

PETERSBURG – During its March 11 deliberations, Upper Township Committee decided it would pursue better traffic signaling in Tuckahoe with the state Department of Transportation (NJDOT) for pedestrian crossing. “This past weekend (March 9-10), I was at an antique shop event there with a beer truck and food tent and it was a great event with lots of visitors. With parking on the other side of the road, many people were trying to cross from one side of Route 50 to the other,” said Committee member Curtis Corson. “But it’s really dangerous because there’s just a crosswalk there and what we need are flashing lights to get cars to stop.” Committee directed Engineer Paul Dietrich to work with NJDOT while it pursues avenues with county and state officials to install the traffic measure.
