PETERSBURG – Upper Township Mayor Richard Palombo and Upper Township Committee members recognized, by resolution March 25, James Cox and daughter, Stephanie, both township residents, as well as the municipality’s emergency responders for their actions. They helped two people escape from their second-floor apartment that was engulfed in flames Feb. 9 at the Chop Shop Hair Salon in Marmora.
According to the resolution, the apartment’s exit was blocked by flames and Cox ran to get a ladder which he had in his truck. His “quick action prevented a dangerous situation from becoming a tragedy,” according to Palombo.
The emergency responders were among the first on the scene and Palombo underscored their experience and training by saying, “All of you do an unbelievable job. It’s because of you that all of us feel safer when we go to bed at night or when we’re doing our daily activities.”
