PETERSBURG – Upper Township Committee received a briefing Oct. 9 from Committee member John Coggins regarding a request to disburse township funds for the municipality’s economic development committee. “The committee would like to purchase signs, fliers and radio spots to promote township businesses. They’re asking for $4,500.” Committee member Hobart Young asked, “Do we have this money? Because it’s been a stressful last couple of months in terms of budget.” Coggins affirmed that there is money in the municipal budget specifically for this purpose. During public comment, Jack Griffin, described himself as a small business person in the municipality, said, “It’s great that the township is supporting our initiatives, but I think we should consider spending the entire $10,000 that is the line item for this purpose in the township’s budget. To reuse items as suggested like signage is not as effective as doing some TV or radio spots for example.”
