WHITESBORO — There are some new playground toys for children to enjoy at Martin Luther King Recreation Center, 207 W. Main St.
On Nov. 18, some 45 youngsters who participate in the after school program at the West Main Street center, joined hands with Middle Township Mayor F. Nathan Doughty and Committeewoman Susan Atkinson DeLanzo and Bernie Blanks, president, Concerned Citizens of Whitesboro, Inc. to dedicate the equipment.
The new equipment replaced outdated pieces, and all meet state safety standards.
Concerned Citizens of Whitesboro, Inc. paid for one of the pieces while the township paid for the remainder.
Robert Matthews, center director, thanked both entities for their assistance in getting the equipment in place. He said both the community’s children and those who participate in the after-school program would benefit.
The municipality was pleased that it could place the equipment at the center, said DeLanzo.
