Pier to Be Built

By Camille Sailer

SEA ISLE CITY – At its March 24 meeting, Sea Isle City Council approved the authorization of a contract award, for $975,550, to E.Z. Docks Unlimited, of Belford, for the construction of the city’s fishing pier and kayak launch, at Dealy Field.
Construction is expected to commence during the spring/summer season. Council noted that the award is contingent on project approval by the Army Corps of Engineers. The project, which will be constructed on the bayside of Dealy Field, will feature a fishing pier, a pier with a covered pavilion, a kayak/paddleboard launch facility, including launch facilities for the disabled, and decorative lighting.
The city previously received approval for funding from the Cape May County Open Space Board and freeholders, in the amount of $935,605, leaving the city responsible for approximately $40,000.
