STONE HARBOR – Atlantic City Electric is about to begin the next phase of its Peermont Project, an infrastructure upgrade that brought a new substation and enhanced transmission network to Seven Mile Island.
The new project will focus on power distribution to borough users. The lines will go along Second Avenue from the substation in Avalon using the same steel poles erected to support the transmission system.
It will eventually transfer to existing wooden poles moving south.
Some existing 45-foot poles will be replaced by taller 55-foot wooden poles.
Equipment will also be added to the system to help the utility segment parts of the borough and minimize the areas impacted by any future outages.
The project will begin March 1 with a goal of completing the work by April 30.
