Passport Fees Set to Increase this Spring; Plan Ahead to Avoid Paying More

By Press Release

COURT HOUSE – Cape May County Clerk Rita Marie Fulginiti advises county residents that the U.S. Department of State is raising the passport execution fee from $25 to $35 on April 2. The fee is mandated by the Department of State.
It applies to passport applications that are submitted via an authorized agent, including a U.S. Post Office, County Clerk or other government office. The passport execution fee is in addition to passport application and other fees paid to the Department of State. Currently, the total fee for a routine first time adult passport book is $110 application fee plus $25 execution fee for a total of $135. That total fee will increase to $145 April 2.
Passport applications for adults renewed by mail to the Department of State by mail are not subject to the fee increase.
“The April 2 fee increase provides an additional incentive to obtain or update a passport now rather than waiting,” stated Fulginiti in a release. “By completing passport transactions at this time of year, Cape May County residents can avoid the last-minute rush of the busy spring travel season, and save money, too.”
The County Clerk’s Office is located at 7 North Main Street. Open hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Passport applicants are asked to arrive by 4 p.m. Applicants may also have their passport photograph taken at the County Clerk’s office for a fee of $5.
