PETERSBURG – Upper Township Mayor Richard Palombo informed Upper Township Committee members, at their June 8 meeting, that “with fingers crossed, we’ll finally be holding our ‘grand opening’ of the Great Egg Harbor bike/walking path. We’ll have to pay particular attention to social distancing for this occasion. I got word from the New Jersey Transportation Authority that I think means the opening will finally be implemented.”
The scenic path, connecting Beesleys Point with Somers Point, was constructed as part of the Great Egg Harbor Bridge project and runs adjacent to the bridge. The opening was scheduled for May 15, then June 15, and now July 8.
