WILDWOOD — Effective May 15, parking meters throughout the City of Wildwood are operational for the season. Each meter costs 25 cents per every 7.5 minutes, said Captain Robert Regalbuto.
Meters can be paid by coin, cell phone or credit card.
Police warn if a parking meter is broken drivers are urged to use a different parking spot.
“The driver must use another meter,” said Regalbuto. He explained officers cannot determine if a meter is functional and if the meter is expired, they will issue a parking summons.
Automobiles that require handicap parking must visibly display their placard or have a handicap license plate. Regalbuto said per state law, handicapped persons are required to fill the meter to capacity once every 24 hours. “Once the meter expires they are not required to return to the meter to replenish funds for a 24-hour period.”
“The Wildwood police department will be working diligently to insure both residents and visitors alike have a safe, fun summer,” said the captain.
Parking meters will remain in effect until Oct. 31.
