WEST WILDWOOD ─ As residents and school children gathered Dec. 6 for the tree-lighting ceremony, various members of the Concerned Taxpayers of West Wildwood (CTWWW) expressed dismay at the lack of control by borough commissioners.
According to Trish Sinnott, members were not aware of the shortened meeting due to the tree lighting and Margaret Mace school choir’s presence.
Officials said an announcement was made Nov. 19.
Sinnott alleged that Mayor Christopher Fox ignored suggestions to recess the meeting and return after the ceremony; residents exchanged harsh words as students entered borough hall.
Sinnott and legal counsel visited Margaret Mace and Glenwood Avenue Elementary Dec. 7 to apologize for the outburst, and assured them the Concerned Taxpayers of West Wildwood was not behind the incident.
One borough volunteer said, “They (CTWWW) ruined our tradition.”
Sinnott said the CTWWW would reach out to residents to explain their objectives.
The borough has declined to comment.
