OCEAN CITY– The Route 52 drawbridge was closed Friday evening for an emergency inspection. A gap between the bridge and the road caused authorities to shut the bridge down until the gap could be inspected by the New Jersey Department of Transportation, a source tells the Herald.
Police directed traffic away from the bridge on both sides. Signs along the Garden State Parkway were alerting motorists to use an alternate route into Ocean City.
The bridge was reopened at approximately 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, according to police.
