OCEAN CITY – City Council unanimously approved a $491,598 budget Jan. 10 for the Special Improvement District (SID) for 2019.
The SID uses funds assessed on business owners within three districts to fund advertising, promotions and other efforts. Most of the money comes from assessments along the boardwalk and the Asbury Avenue downtown. The Ninth Street corridor, the third district, pays less than 10 percent of the cost.
As approved, the budget spends just over $303,000 on promotions for 2019, and $61,000 on advertising. The budget also shows $76,000 budgeted for administration, $18,000 in other expenses, and $21,385 for debt service.
City Council members praised the efforts before the vote.
