O.C. Man Charged In 2 Attempted Carjackings

OCEAN CITY– On August 30, 2009 the Ocean City Police received two reports of attempting “Carjackings” that occurred within 10 minutes of each other. The first incident occurred at approximately 3:50pm in the vicinity of 9th St. & Wesley Avenue. During this incident a white male attempting to take a vehicle by use of physical force from two occupants. The occupants were able to fight the attacker off and he fled the area.
Approximately 10 minutes later in the Superfresh Parking, located at 800 West Avenue, a second incident occurred. This time the same subject attempted to again use physical force to take a vehicle from two elderly occupants in the parking lot. The occupants again fought the subject and yelled for help. An employee of Superfresh intervenes and struggles with the subject. At this time Ptl. Wisham is driving by the Superfresh on duty and sees the struggle taking place. Ptl. Wisham is able to take the subject into custody with assistance of the Superfresh employee.
The investigation revealed that no weapon was used in the attacks and none of the occupants received any injuries.
Dale G. Andrews, Age 40 was charged with two counts of robbery.
