New Traffic Pattern Coming for Route 52 Road Work

By Herald Staff

OCEAN CITY POLICE RELEASE:
OCEAN CITY — On Nov. 17, there will be a new traffic pattern on the Route 52(Ninth Street) corridor project. Traffic will be moved from the south portion of the roadway between Bay Avenue and the base of Beach Thoroughfare Bridge to the north portion. There will be one lane in each direction starting in the 200 block of Ninth Street and extending to the Route 52 Bridge. This will be a similar pattern to the current traffic plan but just being moved to the other side of the concrete median between Bay Avenue and the Bridge.
The new traffic pattern will result in limited access to the 900 blocks of Pleasure and Palen Avenues. Vehicles will only be able to access these roads from 10th Street. There will be no access to Route 52 from either of these roads during the construction.
There will also be a continued restriction on NO left hand turns at Bay Avenue. Vehicles traveling westbound will be directed to make the left turn at Simpson Avenue. Vehicles traveling eastbound will be directed to turn left at West Avenue.
This construction is going to cause a temporary inconvenience to motorists so that everyone will be able to enjoy the long term benefits upon completion of the Route 52 corridor project.
