TRENTON – Gov. Phil Murphy announced the members of his Restart and Recovery Commission this week. The commission is co-chaired by former Princeton University President and current Professor Dr. Shirley Tilghman and Merck and Co. CEO Kenneth Frazier.
The 21 member Commission includes five state officials and 16 business leaders, academicians, former heads of federal agencies, union officials, and leaders of progressive think tanks.
Not on the commission is a casino or South Jersey Shore representation.
The list does not appear to include individuals with extensive experience in the tourism industry that is central to much of the South Jersey economy. It is also not clear if the commission membership includes individuals who understand the nature of a shore economy, where the bulk of annual revenues are realized in the summer season that is nearing.
The complete membership of the commission is available on the to the governor’s webpage, nj.gov/governor/admin/restartcommission.
