On May 23, Middle Township Police report the following DUI arrests:
On May 23, the Middle Township Police Department received a call of a possible DWI where a silver Lexus was swerving all over SH47 in Goshen. Police responded and got behind the silver Lexus on Goshen Road where the vehicle was stopped near SH47. After being stopped, the accused, Daniel B. Carson, 27, of Woodbine attempted to leave and crashed into another police car that Sgt. Conte was operating. The accused was arrested for DWI and issued nine summonses. Police as per John’s Law guidelines impounded the vehicle that Carson was operating. He was also charged with Lewdness at police headquarters and transported to Cape May County Jail in lieu of $1,500. bail. Ptl. Martino and Cpl. Crawley are investigating.
Also on May 23, Middle Township Police Department received a call of a possible DWI where a black Mitsubishi was driving erratically and crossing into the opposite lane of travel. Ptl. Loftus was on a traffic stop in the Goshen area on SH47 and cleared to stop the black Mitsubishi. The driver, Cooper Groff, 20, of Monroeville, NJ was stopped on SH47 near Woodcock Lane and arrested for DWI and possession of drugs. He was transported to police headquarters where a drug recognition expert evaluated him due to his highly intoxicated state. It was determined that his intoxication was due to illegal drugs and not alcohol. He was issued seven summonses and a criminal charge of possession of CDS and released to his friend. Groff’s vehicle was impounded as per John’s Law guidelines.
