COURT HOUSE – David Elliott assumed the role of Middle Township Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Qualified Purchasing Agent following the January2022 retirement of Susan Quinones. At a Township Committee meeting Aug. 15, the governing body acknowledged Elliott’s resignation, effective Sept. 16, 2022.

No reason was given for Elliott’s abrupt resignation. As CFO, Elliott had a rough first year, failing to account for the required township payment for county central dispatch services in the 2022 adopted budget. The error required the governing body to approve a $345,000 emergency appropriation which will have to be repaid in the 2023 budget.

There was no discussion at the township meeting concerning Elliott’s departure or the search for a new CFO. The position provides leadership for a sizable general budget of $24.7 million in 2022, along with a sewer utility budget of $5.5 million.
