COURT HOUSE – At its March 6 meeting, Middle Township Committee adopted an amendment to its construction codes calling for three surveys by the township at intervals in new building construction.
The first survey on any new, renovated or altered structure foundation will determine that the exact locations, foundation elevations and all setbacks conform to zoning requirements. No framing shall commence until the survey is submitted and approved.
The second survey will occur at the completion of roof framing and sheathing. Its purpose is to confirm the height of structures located upon the property and their setbacks conform to requirements. No rough inspections will be performed until this survey is submitted and approved.
The final survey will happen before any application for a certificate of occupancy (CO), either temporary or permanent, is completed. This survey will certify that the height and location of all structures on the property, as well as all setbacks and the location of sidewalks, driveways, driveway aprons and curb cuts conform to zoning requirements. No CO will be issued until this survey is submitted and approved.
