PETERSBURG – Upper Township Committee Oct. 28 recognized William McLees, of Boy Scout Troop 79, Seaville, for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, with a formal resolution acknowledging the achievement.
McLees’ Eagle Scout project, which he accomplished with a group of other scouts, was building an information kiosk to support informing visitors and tourists at Somers Mansion, the oldest building in Atlantic County, located in Somers Point. Built in 1725, it’s listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
The kiosk included weather-proof cabinets, a shingled roof, and solar panels to provide lighting at night.
