Madden’s Council President

Ocean City Council unanimously named at-large Councilman Peter Madden as council president for another year at its June 27 meeting.

OCEAN CITY – Ocean City Council unanimously named at-large Councilman Peter Madden as council president for another year at its June 27 meeting.
In Ocean City’s form of government, the council president runs the council meetings. The president does not have any additional power, but does set the tone for the meetings.
Council also approved 3rd Ward Councilman Tony Wilson as vice president.
Most years, Ocean City holds its reorganization meeting July 1, but canceled the meeting this year and reorganized at the regular Thursday meeting. In other years, this meeting has been largely ceremonial, swearing-in members after the May elections and naming the professionals for the year, often including some speeches. With no election this year, members handled the election of a president at the last meeting in June instead.
The next meeting is planned for 7 p.m. July 11 at City Hall, 861 Asbury Ave.
