VILLAS – Three Lower Township police officers were recognized Nov. 4 at a Lower Township Council meeting for their service to the community.

Detective Joseph Boyle
Detective Joseph Boyle was recognized on his retirement andfor over 25 years of service to the Lower Township Police Department.
Boyle received multiple commendations over his career, including an investigation in 2013 that led to the arrest of a person selling stolen handguns.
Boyle, received congratulations from Lower Township Chief of Police William Mastriana.
Officer William Kocis
Lower Township Officer William Kocis was presented the Valor Award by 200 Club of Atlantic and Cape May Counties by members Kevin Dixon and Michael Graham for excelling in his respective responsibilities and going beyond the call of duty.
Dixon was called to a disturbance in March 2019 when he encountered a knife-wielding suspect, who lunged at him, slashing at his abdomen.
The suspect was eventually apprehended and charged with multiple offenses. Dixon was uninjured.
Officer Eric Coombs
Lower Township Officer Eric Coombs was honored by the Coalition Against Rape and Abuse (CARA) for efforts in helping the association with its mission to support.
He encountered a domestic violence situation that involved a mother and daughter. Corinne DeNapoli, CARA representative, said Coombs went above and beyond his duty by ensuring both were safe and able to get to a shelter.
