LOWER TOWNSHIP POLICE RELEASE:
ERMA — The Lower Township Police Department in conjunction with Township Mayor and Council are instituting a new community program called the “Cop Stop Program” whereby police officers will be available to interact with residents of the community in a relaxed atmosphere.
Lower Township Police Chief Edward Donohue stated that, “In general the only time the majority of the public has contact with police officers is during a routine traffic stop or police investigation or an emergency.”
Donohue stated he hopes the program will allow residents to get to know our officers by name and increase the lines of communication between citizens and our police officers who are available 365 days a year to serve and protect them
Chief Donohue stated that the program has the full support of the Mayor and Council and the Township’s Mayor Advisory Board, made up of local citizens.
The first “Cop/Stop” will take place at the North Cape May WaWa on Jan. 23 where Patrolman Michael Perry will be present from 10 a.m. until noon, to answer any questions or comments citizens may have concerning the operations of the police department and literature on various community projects will also be available at that time.
