Governor Orders Flags Lowered to Half-Staff in Honor of NJ State Trooper Frankie Williams

By Press Release

TRENTON – Governor Chris Christie signed the following Executive Order Dec. 9:
Executive Order No. 217 – Ordering all State buildings to fly flags at half-staff on Mon., Dec. 12, 2016, in recognition of the life and in mourning of the passing of New Jersey State Trooper Frankie Williams.
Trooper Williams earned an Associate Degree from Atlantic Cape Community College, a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Rutgers University, and was working towards a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice at Rutgers. On January 29, 2016, Trooper Williams joined the New Jersey State Police as a graduate of the 156th Class of the New Jersey State Police Academy. Initially assigned to the Woodstown Station, then to the Port Norris Station, Trooper Williams, in his short time in the State Police, gained the respect and admiration of his colleagues for his good judgment and thoughtful approach to his duties. On December 5, 2016, Trooper Williams tragically passed away following a motor vehicle accident that occurred while he was on duty and responding to an incident.
“Trooper Williams made the ultimate sacrifice on behalf of the citizens of this State,” said Governor Chris Christie. “He served with courage, professionalism, and a commitment to the finest ideals and traditions of the New Jersey State Police. It is with profound sadness that we mourn the loss of Trooper Williams, and we extend our deepest sympathy to his family, friends, and fellow law enforcement officers.”
