Fast Talk Comes to Wildwood

By Deborah McGuire

WILDWOOD — Speakers addressing the Wildwood Board of Commissioners will need to speak quicker when stepping up to the microphone.
In a resolution passed by the board during its Wed., Oct. 26 meeting, speakers’ remarks will be limited to five minutes, with each speaker being given the opportunity to address the board once during a meeting.
Prior policy allowed members of the public to speak for 10 minutes, with each person permitted to speak once during a meeting.
Individuals wishing to criticize public employees will continue to be directed to the Personnel Department, during regular business hours.
“I think five minutes is plenty of time,” said Commissioner Tony Leonetti.
“We’re all pretty accessible,” added Commissioner Pete Byron. “Most people have our cell phone numbers.”
“We’re always here after the meetings,” said Mayor Ernie Troiano. “It’s not like we’re stopping people from speaking.”
