WILDWOOD CREST – Borough commissioners have discussed imposing costs on property owners for “excessive use of municipal services.” Property owners who fail to address concerns raised by the public or borough will be fined for lack of compliance, Should those issues remain unchanged, their mercantile license may be taken.
In past discussions, the borough solicitor said the ordinance addresses “actual disturbances of the peace.” Commissioner David Thompson said July 11 “internal struggles” exist determining what is a “false alarm.”
Mayor Don Cabrera said the ordinance would provide borough staff a way to “pass on the costs” to the property owner for “chewing up” municipal time. The ordinance was introduced on first reading July 25.
