Donohue Speaks for Thornton, Sheppard

By Herald Staff

COURT HOUSE — The campaign of Gerald M. Thornton and Susan Sheppard for Cape May County Freeholder today (Thursday, April 29) announced that former First District Republican State Assembly candidate Mike Donohue will serve as spokesman for the campaign.
“Mike Donohue was one of the first people to have the courage to step out publicly to support me and Sue Sheppard in this primary,” said Thornton. “As everyone knows, Mike has been doing a tremendous job managing our campaign. As we began to contrast our positive campaign with the relentless mudslinging of John McCann and Ralph Bakley, we determined that it would send a positive message to have a man like Mike Donohue, who personifies our “Integrity – Independence – Republican” slogan, as our spokesman in stark contrast to the McCann-Bakley spokesman, David Von Savage.”
“I supported Mike last year and was impressed with the nearly 17,000 votes he got from the people of Cape May County,” said Sheppard. “Mike has been running circles around the opposition as our campaign manager and having him as our spokesman gives us another knowledgeable and well respected voice in the public arena.”
“The Democrats used the same underhanded and dirty tactics against me last year that McCann and Bakley are using against their fellow Republicans this year,” said Donohue. “The people of Cape May County obviously didn’t like the mud last year when they made me their top vote-getter in the Assembly race. And they will not be persuaded by McCann and Bakley’s mudslinging this year. The Thornton-Sheppard Integrity-Independence- Republican ticket is bringing a new and positive face to our politics. And the people of Cape May County think that is long over due.”
