SEA ISLE CITY – Mayor Leonard Desiderio May 12 addressed City Council members and the public about the latest news concerning opening the Jersey Shore and its businesses.
“Along with Freeholder Will Morey, we are chairing the County Committee to get us open for business in this, the 53rd day of the governor’s executive order for everyone to stay-at-home because of the pandemic,” Desiderio said. “We have now opened the beaches and promenade with limited access and for active recreation and no sitting in beach chairs, even for fishing.”
“I know we are all extremely frustrated with the shutdown,” Desiderio added, “but I am confident we are going to have sectors opening in a phased-in, careful fashion. These will include non-essential businesses getting back to be available for their customers, even if just as curbside pick-up and shopping. We want to be careful that we don’t have a backslide, but I am advocating very strongly in Trenton that we start opening up now.”
