DENNISVILLE – Dennis Township Committee approved a resolution Dec. 18 to pay holiday bonuses to certain employees.
Business Administrator Pat Moran explained: “Holiday bonuses were something that the township had previously given to the employees that started prior to my employment. According to Clerk Jackie Justice, it was a practice that has morphed over the past 10-15 years.
“At first, the committee would hold a dinner; it then turned into gift certificates and gift cards. When I got here, it was discovered that in order for it to continue, the process had to be changed and formalized. The committee wanted to continue the tradition, and because it had become a past practice (under the union contract), it required a resolution; 2017 would be the first year for the resolution and this year was basically the same, where every employee receives $50. All of our full and part-time regular scheduled employees get the bonus. Committee and our professionals do not get it.”
