WILDWOOD CREST – Wildwood Crest is removing a strip of land, near Sunset Lake, from the Green Acres’ Recreational and Open Space Inventory (ROSI), so it can be used for two driveways to access four proposed Bayview Drive homes, borough officials said.
The driveways would cut across municipal land to get to the homes, which would be built in bordering Lower Township.
The site for the homes used to be Mariner’s Inn and an adjacent parking lot, on the south side of Sunset Lake.
An easement for a driveway already exists – the Mariner’s Inn building used the land to access its parking lot since 1983, but the borough added the .4-acre sliver to the Green Acres inventory mistakenly, because of a clerical error in 2002, according to Marcus Karavan, the attorney handling the matter for the borough. That error is costing the borough in legal fees.
Once the land is removed from the Green Acres inventory, the borough will tighten the easement to only allow for the two driveways, Mayor Don Cabrera said, adding the borough hired Karavan because solicitor Ronald Gelzunas had a conflict of interest.
