WILDWOOD CREST – In compliance with Gov. Phil Murphy’s Smoke-Free Air Act, beaches were included in the legislation as a smoke-free area. Wildwood Crest Borough Commissioners decided to provide a smoking area, as allowed. According to the ordinance introduced March 20, “Board of Commissioners determines that designating a limited number of confined permitted smoking areas on back beaches will better preserve and maintain the remainder of the beach area and areas immediately surrounding the beaches by reducing litter and increasing fire safety while lessening exposure to secondhand tobacco smoke and providing for a more pleasant beach experience for all members of the public.”
