By Press Release

WILDWOOD CREST – Wildwood Crest Borough Commissioners passed a resolution allowing for the temporary usage of the back beach area for the placement and storage of hotel, motel and condominium deck chairs and lounge chairs.
According to a release, the resolution was unanimously passed at the board’s regularly scheduled meeting June 3.
The resolution is designed to give hotels, motels, condominiums and condotels that have a swimming pool and/or sundeck an option to store deck chairs and lounge chairs on the beach east of the bulkhead for use by guests should health and safety protocols require the removal of chairs from sun decks and pool decks to comply with social-distancing requirements.
Hotels, motels, condominiums and condotels wishing to use this storage and usage option must apply for permission with the Wildwood Crest’s zoning official.
As per the resolution, all chairs must be neatly stacked or placed in a line at the end of each day and secured by a cable and lock for overnight storage until utilized the next day. In the event of an impending storm or another weather-related occurrence, such as tidal flooding, the applicant must remove all chairs from the beach.
Storage area locations may be subject to limited availability due to space limitations, ingress and egress to the beach, fire code guidelines and other safety factors as determined by the borough’s zoning officer. The borough is not responsible for any property placed and stored on the beach by any applicant.
Applications for such usage can commence immediately. This measure will remain in effect until revoked or modified by the Board of Commissioners of the Borough of Wildwood Crest, concerning the State of New Jersey relaxing provisions of executive orders about social-distancing requirements. If and when the resolution is revoked, applicants will be required to immediately remove all stored items from the beach area.
For further information, contact the Wildwood Crest zoning office at (609) 729-8089.
