Crest Gets DCA Grant for Bayfront Upgrades

By Herald Staff

WILDWOOD CREST PRESS RELEASE:
WILDWOOD CREST — The Borough of Wildwood Crest has announced it has received a $500,000 Small Cities Community Development Block Grant earmarked toward improvements of bayfront infrastructure.
The grant, awarded through the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs, will be used for infrastructure upgrades along the bayfront at the west ends of Cresse Avenue and Morning Glory Road in the northern section of the borough.
The Borough of Wildwood Crest will place an additional $150,000 in the 2010 capital budget to further address these vital infrastructure improvements.
These upgrades are designed to improve and expedite tidal and storm water drainage, greatly reduce tidal water penetration of bulkheads, improve the overall safety of barricades and bulkheads and eliminate health safety issues with standing water on Cresse Avenue and Morning Glory and Lake roads.
The project, under the direction of the borough engineer, is scheduled to begin in September and should be completed by the end of the calendar year.
“The borough is very pleased to receive this grant from the DCA,” stated Don Cabrera, Commissioner of Public Works. “This grant will go a long way toward helping us provide much needed improvements to the infrastructure along the bayfront in that area of the borough.”
The New Jersey Department of Community Affairs is a state agency created to provide administrative guidance, financial support and technical assistance to local governments, community development organizations, businesses and individuals to improve the quality of life in New Jersey.
