COURT HOUSE – April 25: Cape May County Department of Health (DOH) reported 15 new cases of COVID-19 today. The new cases were spread across six municipalities, with five in Lower Township, three each in Ocean City and Upper Township, two in Middle Township, and one each in Avalon and West Cape May.
Today’s report included no new deaths and did not add to the number of individuals moved off quarantine. The number of total cases rose to 286, with 184 considered active.
Cape May Point and Stone Harbor remain the only municipalities without a confirmed case.
Total confirmed cases in the state rose today to 105,523, with 5,863 associated deaths. Total tests reported were 191,813, a number considerably below the level of testing sought by Gov. Phil Murphy. Results from major test labs are showing a 44% positive test level.
State hospitalizations continue to trend in the right direction, with a total of 6,722, of which 1,971 are in critical or intensive care. Hospitalizations requiring a ventilator number 1,442, about 21% of all recorded COVID-19 patients.
Today’s new case total means that the county added 62 new active cases in the past three days, approximately a third of the total active cases reported. This is the highest three-day total of new cases in the county since COVID-19 made its first appearance in March.
