County Reports 54% of All Cases Off Quarantine

COURT HOUSE – May 18: The Cape May County Department of Health reported an increase in the number of individuals who have recovered sufficiently from COVID-19 infection to be moved off quarantine. As of today, 271 individuals, or 54% of all the county’s cases since the first in mid-March, are now off quarantine.
The county also reported six additional COVID-19 cases and one new fatality today.
The new death was an 87-year-old woman from a Lower Township long-term care facility. Her passing brings the total of COVID-19 associated deaths to 41.
Middle Township and Woodbine Borough each reported two additional cases. Lower and Upper townships had one new case each. The total number of cases for the county is now 521.
The total number of active cases dropped since yesterday. The number of community-based active cases is now below 100 and stands at 91. Long-term care active cases are now 118, for a county total of 209 actives, compared to 247 yesterday.
