COURT HOUSE – Atlantic City Electric in partnership with the Cape May County Office of Emergency Management, will hold an Emergency Preparedness Conference May 31 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Cape May County Administration Building, Freeholder Meeting Room, 4 Moore Road, Cape May Court House, N.J.
The public and emergency management personnel are encouraged to attend this annual event to learn more about the resources that are available before, during and after a storm and to better understand ways to prepare for hurricane season which begins June 1 and runs through November 30.
Vince Maione, Atlantic City Electric region president, and Andrew Sykes, manager, Emergency Management, Atlantic City Electric, will provide an overview of how Atlantic City Electric prepares for extreme weather events, offer details on the company’s restoration process and priorities, and discuss ways the company communicates to its customers during a storm.
Martin L. Pagliughi, director, Cape May County Office of Emergency Management, will discuss emergency management partnerships and the role of critical support agencies.
Dan Skeldon, Press of Atlantic City meteorologist, will provide an outlook on the projected 2017 Atlantic hurricane season and discuss lessons learned from previous storms.
Dr. Meredith A. Steudle, veterinarian, New Jersey, Department of Agriculture, Division of Animal Health, will provide residents with information on disaster preparedness for pets as well as available resources to help keep pets safe in the event of a large scale weather event or other disaster.
David Yoel, CEO, American Aerospace Technologies, will provide an overview on the use of long endurance drones to improve safety and effectiveness in an emergency response.
The American Red Cross Southern Shore Chapter will provide attendees information on available resources offered through the organization in times of need, and explain how residents can better prepare for hurricane season.
