COURT HOUSE — County Clerk Rita Marie Fulginiti was notified June 25 by a senior who received a phone call from a person who identified herself as an employee of the Cape May County Clerk’s Office. That phone caller told the senior that there was an outstanding warrant for her with instructions to pay by 3 p.m. the same day.
“Please be aware that the County Clerk’s Office does not make such telephone calls,” Fulginiti said. “That phone call was an attempt to scam the senior to pay out funds. Be wary of anyone who contacts you by phone with instructions to make an immediate payment. The County Clerk does not make collection calls for warrants. The County Clerk’s Office puts our communications in writing.”
Middle Township police have been notified and are working on the case.
