Corzine Names County Residents to Boards

TRENTON — In recent days, Gov. Jon S. Corzine named three Cape May County residents to spots on different boards.
On Feb. 19, he made 32 direct appointments including that of Court House resident Robert Burner, safety officer at the county Municipal Utilities Authority, to the Public Employees Occupational Safety and Health Advisory Board.
On Feb. 23, Corzine nominated two others to the state Senate for reappointment:
Lu Ann Wowkanech, of Ocean City, was nominated by Gov. Corzine for reappointment to the Cape May County Board of Taxation. Wowkanech has been a member of the Cape May County Board of Taxation since 2002. She has extensive prior experience as a consultant and business manager. She has been working in private industry in sales and marketing since 1981.
Wowkanech is a 1975 graduate of William Paterson College of New Jersey with a bachelor’s of arts degree in elementary education and early childhood.
She is married and has two children.

John Snyder
John Snyder, of Marmora, was nominated by Gov. Corzine for reappointment to the Cape May County Board of Taxation. Mr. Snyder has been a commissioner of the Cape May County Board of Taxation since 2005. He is a member of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades since 1980.
Mr. Snyder prior experience includes having served as School Board Member, until 2001; and chair of Adult Education Committee in Upper Township School district. He has been an educator and a boys’ basketball coach until 2004.
He is a 1976 graduate of LaSalle University with a bachelor’s of science degree and has completed numerous courses in Property Tax Administration from the Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey.
The Legislature established the Cape May County Board of Taxation to equalize the valuation assessments on both real and personal property, and to revise, review and enforce the statutes governing taxes for each respective county.
