CREST HAVEN – Freeholders approved an $85,000 contract for modular vehicle anti-ramming barriers at the Feb. 26 meeting. The devices are used to mitigate ramming attacks, according to Allison Hansen of the Purchasing Department.
The contract with Advanced Security Technologies LLC of Closter is for the County Prosecutor’s Office. The devices with a swing gate, plus a trailer and training for staff members, are included in the price. The firm has one year from Feb. 27, 2019 to supply the barriers.
The board awarded a not-to-exceed $149,412 contract to DeBlasio and Associates for construction engineering site work at 1127 Route 47 South in Rio Grande, the former Kmart and surrounding parking lot. The county’s Social Services and a Veterans Affairs community-based outpatient clinic will also be located in the facility.
Hansen noted that the project would determine the layout for parking as well as doing investigative work to locate subsurface sewer lines and otherwise hidden utilities.
In other action the board:
* Appointed county fire coordinator William Cripps and deputy fire coordinators Ronald McGowen, Jerome Inderwies, Jay Newman and William Mulligan. Their terms will run until Dec. 31, 2019.
* Added Freeholders Will Morey and Jeffrey Pierson as liaisons to the Coast Guard Community Foundation.
* Approved a five-year shared services agreement between the county and Upper Township for maintenance of the Upper Township Senior Center.
