NORTH WILDWOOD ─ Due to traffic patterns and “wear and tear,” North Wildwood officials and engineers decided to reconstruct East 22nd Avenue, between Surf Avenue and the boardwalk.
According to Mayor Patrick Rosenello, engineers went to great lengths to preserve parking at nearby condominiums. The mayor previously described the project, including a round-about to ensure smoother delivery service and turning around.
Development at Seaport Pier requires these measures, said Rosenello. North Wildwood City Council awarded the contract to Fred M. Schiavone Construction, Inc., during its Jan. 21 meeting.
The project costs $1.2 million. The city’s portion is $1.1 million, while the City of Wildwood’s (Water Utility) portion is $106,301.
Construction is slated for spring.
