SEA ISLE CITY — In its final action as the governing body here, commissioners awarded a $99,000 contract at a special meeting June 29 to fortify geotubes on the northern side of the city. The contract will pay for 11,000 cubic yards of sand to be placed on exposed geotubes, which prevent beach erosion and keep waves away from oceanfront properties. On June 26 at their last regular meeting, commissioners also approved a $3 million borrowing plan to pay for road work, handicapped beach ramps, design of a passive park, repairs to city buildings and utility improvements. Commissioners were replaced July 1 by a newly elected city council whose first meeting is scheduled for July 10 at 7 p.m. in the Public Safety Building.
