CREST HAVEN – Six buildings at the Cape May County Airport will be demolished to build and consolidate Fare Free Transportion’s facility.
Freeholders authorized the Atlantic County Improvement Authority, which is overseeing the construction projects at the airport, to proceed on the county’s behalf with Clarke Canton Hintz PC, design and construction administration contract for $544,222 to demolish six structures.
The area is considered a “Government Services District.”
In other action the board:
- Appointed Majken Mechling, of Court House, to an interim term of March 1, 2020, to June 30, 2020, as a member of the Mental Health, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Board. It is an unpaid, volunteer position.
- Accepted an award of $125,000 from the state Office of Emergency Management for pre-disaster mitigation assistance from Oct. 1, 2018, to April 1, 2022. The funding was to “enhance and sustain the county’s all0haards mitigation plan to prevent, respond to and recover from natural disasters and other catastrophic events.”
- Approved an increase in the cost, per meal, at the Cape May County Correctional Facility. The contract with Trinity Food Service and Food Service Management provides for an increase of 3.1% over the last year. Inmate meals will rise to $1.75 from $1.70, while staff meals will increase to $2.15 from $2.09, effective April 1.
- Approved a change order totaling $92,384 to Arthur J. Ogren, Inc. for added work at County Commons, in Rio Grande, site of the former Kmart. The first increase, of $39,099, was for the installation of acoustic insulation and drywall and finishing one side of the wall between Tractor Supply and other spaces. The second change, for $53,284, was for labor and material to install Tractor Supply service and tele-data conduit, as well as electrical work.
