By Herald Staff

CAPE MAY — A line of fire trucks began a parade Oct. 13 at the Coast Guard Training Center here that kicked off the first Oktoberfest at the training center; included, of course was German food and music.
Getting into the spirit of the day, Coast Guard Lt. Cmdr. Casey Chmielewski and Cmdr. Chris Calhoun danced during the Oktoberfest parade.
Coast Guard Chief Warrant Officer Frank Gibson cooked a variety of German sausages for the event.
It was a big family day, that featured activities for all ages, including a potato sack race, scarecrow decorating contest and a blueberry pie eating contest.
As parents enjoyed the fun, children climbed a jungle gym.
