WEST WILDWOOD – West Wildwood Commissioners voted to retain the services of their current information technology firm, passing on a less costly option, at their public meeting Feb. 5.
ACA Computers won out over Targeted Technologies after both submitted proposals for the borough’s information technology (IT) support contract.
According to Borough Solicitor Mary D’Arcy Bittner, at a Feb. 3 workshop meeting, the two proposals are equivalent in the services they offer. Targeted Technologies would have cost approximately $1,985 per month, plus $187.50 per hour, after hours and on holidays, beyond four hours of included off-hours time per month, Bittner said.
ACA Computers costs $2,688 per month, Municipal Clerk Donna Frederick said, adding additional hours would be billed at $120 per hour.
References for Targeted Technologies, which Bittner said she investigated, came back good; however, one town, Oceanport, in Monmouth County, was dissatisfied with the services from Targeted Technology, according to a conversation Bittner said she had with its chief of police.
According to Bittner, the chief cited the failure of Target Technologies to prevent a firewall breach which subjected the town to ransomware; further, he was disappointed with Targeted Technologies’ response to the breach.
“I have confidence in the company that we’re using,” Commissioner Scott Golden said.
