Bonfire’s a Go

By Vince Conti

AVALON – Avalon Borough Council introduced an ordinance March 11, which permits “a beach fire when conducted by the borough, in connection with a community event.”
This exception to the borough’s general prohibition on “open burning of any kind” allows plans to proceed for a June 5 full moon party, on the beach at 30th Street. The idea was brought to the governing body in late February, as a suggestion from members of the recreation council.
The event will be subject to the “conditions and restrictions imposed” by fire officials.
