STONE HARBOR – Stone Harbor Borough Council received an update Nov. 19 on the proposed new Beach Patrol building at 95th Street and the beach.
An earlier presentation included a design with an estimated cost of just over $4 million. The reworked design shaved $500,000 off the estimate.
It did so largely through changes to aspects of the project that sit outside or on the periphery of the building. Several council members expressed support for the modified design.
While no formal vote was taken, Business Administrator Jill Gougher was authorized to move ahead with the permitting process.
A tentative schedule for the project included a permitting and detailed design phase that would run until April or May 2020. Bids would then be solicited in June, with the expectation that an award could be made in July. Construction under the schedule would begin after Labor Day 2020, and be complete before Memorial Day 2021.
